Answers to Your Moving Questions

Everything you’ve wondered about pricing, timing, packing, and protection — explained clearly.
How much notice do you need to book a local move?

For most local moves, 1–2 weeks is plenty. During summer and end-of-month rushes, try to book 3 weeks ahead. Last‑minute? Call anyway — we often have a crew available within 48 hours.

Do you charge extra for stairs or walkups?

Moves from second‑floor or higher walkups may carry a small additional fee because of the extra time and labor. Elevator buildings with loading dock access generally have no extra charge.

Can you move my car at the same time as my household goods?

We specialize in household and office moves, not auto transport. We can recommend trusted vehicle shippers if you need your car moved separately.

What happens if my elevator reservation falls through?

If your building cancels the elevator slot, let us know as soon as possible. We’ll work with you to reschedule the move or adjust the crew size to work with stairs or service elevators.

Do you offer packing services for just one room?

Yes — partial packing is available. You can pack the bedrooms yourself and have our crew pack the kitchen and living room, or vice versa. Tell your coordinator exactly which rooms you want us to handle.

How do you protect hardwood floors and carpets?

We lay down heavy‑duty floor runners at all entry points and high‑traffic areas. Movers also wear boot covers inside the home. Furniture is carried, not dragged.

Can you move a large treadmill or elliptical machine?

Yes, but we need to know ahead of time. Treadmills require two movers and a furniture dolly. We’ll also unplug and fold the deck if the model allows it.

What’s your policy on tips?

Tipping is never required but always appreciated. If you feel the crew did great work, typical tips range from $20–$40 per mover for a half‑day move, or $40–$60 for a full day.

Do you move items out of storage units?

Absolutely. We can meet you at any storage facility in the Gaithersburg area, load the unit, and deliver to your new home or another storage location. Rates are the same as a standard local move.

How do you handle moves during rain or snow?

We move in almost all weather. Our trucks are enclosed and dry, and we use walkboard ramps with grip tape. We also carry tarps to cover the walkway between the door and the truck.

Can I add or remove items from my move after booking?

Yes — up until the day before. Just call your coordinator with the new inventory list. Adding large items may increase the estimated time, but we’ll update your quote before the crew arrives.

Do you move appliances like refrigerators and washing machines?

Yes. We disconnect, drain, and prepare refrigerators, washers, and dryers for transport. Reconnection at the destination is available for an additional fee — let us know when you book.

What if my new build or apartment isn’t ready on move‑in day?

We can store your items in our secure warehouse for a few days or weeks. Same daily rate applies as short‑term storage. Once your new place is ready, we’ll schedule delivery within 72 hours.

Are there any hidden fees I should watch for?

None. Your written estimate includes labor, truck, equipment, travel time, and basic liability coverage. The only extras would be packing materials, shuttle fees (if the truck cannot fit near your door), or stair fees for walkups over three floors.

Can you move a grandfather clock or antique china cabinet?

Yes — but those require white‑glove handling. We use padded quilt wraps, custom crating for the clock movement, and extra crew members to walk the item slowly and carefully.

What time do your crews arrive on moving day?

We give you a two‑hour arrival window the day before your move. Most local moves start between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Our dispatcher will call you 30 minutes before the crew shows up.

Do you move pool tables with slate beds?

Yes — but that’s a specialized service. We have crews trained in disassembly, slate handling, and reassembly. Pricing is separate from standard moving rates. Call us with the table size (7‑foot, 8‑foot, 9‑foot) for an exact quote.
